San Diego is an absolutely beautiful area. It’s been many years since I last went, so it was nice to go as an adult. On June 6th, 2017, Zackary and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary (crazy!). As a result, we decided to celebrate by taking a quick, 48 trip to San Diego.
We arrived at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa around 1:00pm. Our check-in time was at 4:00pm, but we were able to check-in early (yay!). Our hotel was absolutely lovely and felt like our own, secluded area. In addition, our room had a modern look, comfy bed, and a Smart TV!
Our balcony view was nice too. Here’s the view from our room:
We ate lunch at a little burger place, which was called “Burger Lounge.” Their grass-fed burgers were amazing, along with the fries! I highly recommend it.
This was right next to the beach. It was gorgeous!
We were determined to visit the pool, however, so we swam around for a half hour or so before deciding the hot tub would be better. If you stay at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa, I suggest a dip in the hot tub. It was nice and spacious, plus pool towels were available (so we didn’t have to use our bath towels).
We loved having a Smart TV for watching the last few episodes of House of Cards, along with warm showers for cuddling in our soft, luxurious bed.
By the way, did I mention this view was right outside our hotel room?!
In the morning, we decided to search for San Diego Zoo deals online. I know Groupon occasionally has deals for zoos, but they did not have any for the San Diego Zoo. The most we could find was a couple dollars off, but we were hoping for a better deal!
I suggested asking the front desk of our hotel about the best place to buy tickets. I did not think, however, that they would have the best prices!
We bought our zoo tickets directly through the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa. According to the San Diego Zoo’s website, one day ticket prices is $52 per person. The Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa sells one day ticket prices for the zoo for $45 per person. In other words, we saved $14 by purchasing through our hotel. Plus, it has the same access: one day admission, along with unlimited use of the guided bus tour, kangaroo express bus, and Skyfari aerial tram.
Oh, by the way, the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa serves Starbucks! They don’t just brew Starbucks coffee; they had a barista making custom Starbucks drinks so I was able to grab a mocha without leaving the hotel!
The San Diego Zoo has the perfect place to store your items. Since we were only staying for one night, we needed a place to store our duffel bag. Fortunately, they have a place to leave your bag for the day for only $5. Definitely worth it! Nobody wants to walk around lugging their baggage across the zoo.
I love how animals can change the way you view life. They can inspire you to be a better person or change your perspective. In addition, I know there is a stigma about visiting animals that are caged up. The zoo, however, is all about preservation. These animals might die in the wild because of a disability or injury, become extinct, or simply exists as one of the few to breed and multiply for the greater good.
Have you been to the San Diego Zoo or stayed at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa? Also, have you seen a cheaper price for the San Diego Zoo? Let me know in a comment!
